Always striving to be one of the greener cities in the UK, London is a great place for those looking to cycle.
Many people do not realise how far you can cycle in a short space of time. A ride of 1 mile at a moderate speed will only take an average cyclist about five minutes to complete. A moderate half-hour ride burns 8 calories a minute, which is the equivalent of 11kg of fat in a year.
Cycling is not just for the able-bodied either, the benefits of cycling for the disabled are just the same as for the able-bodied. There is a wide range wide of solutions on offer such as tricycles, bicycles, companion cycles, recumbents, race runners and hand cycles.

There is also a Cycle Superhighway (CS7) that runs between Colliers Wood and Southwark Bridge via Clapham Road and Clapham Common and another cycle route is planned that will run along Camberwell New Road, past Kennington Park and The Oval to The Thames.
If you are a keen cyclist, new to cycling or new to the area it is worth having a look at some of the local cycle clubs to meet fellow cyclists or cycle shops for advice.
