What is a Car Club?

Car clubs offer a great alternative to traditional car ownership. They provide vehicles (usually cars and vans) to members on a pay-as-you-drive basis with the vehicles being owned by the service provider.

To use a vehicle from a car club you must first become a member. Once a member, vehicles can be booked by the hour, day, week or month either by telephone or on the Internet – the notice required can be as little as a few minutes, or up to 12 months in advance.

Zipcar is the ‘official’ car club for this development and every home on the new St Agnes Place and Bolton Crescent development will be given one FREE membership for two years! This means that upon request, residents will be able to join Zipcar for FREE for up to two years! 

In addition to this, each new driver/resident will receive £25 driving credit when they open a new account with Zipcar!!

As part of this service, Zipcar will operate normal systems, processes and policies regarding registration, bookings, payment/billing, cleaning and maintenance of the cars.

Zipcar have recently introduced a floating car club known as Zipcar Flex. The difference with this compared to the typical fixed car club described above is that you can park the car in any resident or shared use bay within the borough at no additional cost. This compared to the traditional car club of requiring a dedicated parking space makes using a car club even easier.

Why use a Car Club?

The costs and hassles associated with owning a car, or sometimes two, can really add up.

Insurance, servicing, MOT, tax, cleaning, parking permits, amongst other things, all contribute to making owning and running a vehicle expensive. But with a car club you can have easy access to vehicles that are available 24/7, 365 days a year that are serviced and maintained by someone else.

You will only ever pay for a vehicle when you need it.

Cars can be booked online or over the phone at any time of day or night. Once your journey is over, the car is returned to its designated bay.
